Tony Brechting (39-6) placed 4th at 285lbs at the Division 3 Regional Wrestling Tournament held at Otsego High School. Brechting went into the tournament as the number two seed out of his District. After losing a close match in the first round to Berrien Springs 6-4, Brechting came back to win against Allendale and Belding to put him in the round for 3rd /4th were he lost to Lakewood. The West Catholic Senior will now compete as one of the top 16 wrestlers in his weight class in the Division 3 State Finals to be held at The Palace in Auburn Hills. Over a three day period from March 1st - 3rd, the 16 wrestlers will compete for a top eight finish and All State honors.
Senior Mitchell Norder completed his High School Wrestling career coming one match away from qualifying for the State Tournament. Norder, wrestling at 130lbs, was 1-2 on the day and finished his season 25-14. Both his loses came against the #1 and #8 ranked wrestlers in the state.
