On Saturday night, West traveled back to Lansing to take on LCC at the Summit. West controlled most of the first period and out shot LCC 17 to 5 but the score remained tied at zeros heading into the second. Shots were similar in the second as West added 18 more to LCCs 6. With five minutes remaining in the second, Brad Barnard moved the puck to Lukas Jenkins who found Avery Mathews on the back door for the first goal of the game. West would take the 1-0 lead into the third period. The third period would be much of the same and with LCC’s goalie pulled for the extra attacker, Tyler Messock broke the puck out to Lukas Jenkins who skated passed a defenseman and guided the puck into the net. Avery Mathews would add his second of the night with thirty seconds left on the clock and West would win the game 3-0. Alan Kolenda stopped all 14 shots on net and earned his third shut out of the season. Colin Scarpino, Brad Barnard, Tyler Hofmann and Isaac Oswald were solid on defense tonight for West. West out shot LCC 48 to 14 for the game. With the win, West improves to 14-8 on the season and will be in action next on Friday night at 8pm when Byron Center comes to Griffs Ice House. This Friday is the last home game of the season and West will honor nine seniors before the game.
