The W.C. Falcons Varsity Team was awarded multiple honors to end a successful season.
All-State Academic Honors were awarded to seniors Nicole Szymczak and Lauren Zielinski. In order to be awarded this honor both Szymczak and Zielinski had a accumulative GPA over a 3.6 on a 4. unweighted scale. Szymczak started as the Falcons second baseman and relief pitcher. She collected 30 hits, with 8 doubles and 16 RBI’s at the plate and 43 putouts and a .940 fielding percentage. Lauren Zielinski was the starting left fielder for the falcons with 134 putouts and a .824 fielding percentage. The team was also award the All-State Academic Team Award for academic excellence.
For All-District Awards, Ana Smith, Kristen Kimball, Morgan Hipp and Dan Wila were selected. Senior Ana Smith was selected as the At Large player for her outstanding performance both on defensively and offensively. Smith collected 34 hits, 2 home runs and 24 RBI’s this season with a .844 fielding percentage. Kimball, Senior attending Aquinas college to continue playing softball in the fall, was selected as a pitcher. Kimball pitched 145 innings with 13 wins and 202 strikeouts.
Junior, Morgan Hipp was selected as a catcher. Hipp lead the team with a .433 batting average, 42 hits, 37 RBI’s and 15 stolen bases. Behind the plate Hipp caught 208 innings, catching 14 runners stealing and picking off 6. Sophomore, center fielder Dana Wila also had a strong presence in both the field and in the batters box. WIla ended the season with 35 hits, 17 RBI’s, 22 putouts and a.788 fielding percentage.
For All-Conference awards both Kristen Kimball and Morgan Hipp were selected for their excellence and Dana Wila received honorable mention. The coaching staff for the Falcons are beyond proud of the achievements the team as made both on and off the field. They would like to thank all the parents and families for their endless support.
